The
goal of the older preschool
class
is to prepare the children for
an easy transition into
kindergarten,
while giving them plenty of
opportunity
for creative self-expression.
Social skills are coupled
with a well-balanced academic
program featuring pre-kindergarten
and school readiness activities.
This curriculum provides hands-on
activities that keep children
actively learning as they identify
letters, explore sounds, develop
number concepts, and engage in
dramatic play. Different
themes and concepts are covered
each month to help children gain
the skills they will need to be
successful in school.
A loving and comfortable environment
is essential to foster proper
social and emotional growth.
The classroom is set up to be
aesthetically pleasing.
Bulletin boards as well as other
visual aids are changed often
to encourage a proper amount
of stimulation.
Finally,
open communication between the teacher
and parents is essential. A progress
report of each child's work is sent home
and discussed with parents at least twice
a year. However, parents are encouraged
to feel free to discuss any questions
or concerns they may have at any time.
