Care in smaller groups allows the children more personal attention and prevents under- or over-stimulation.  

Physical affection and cuddling, so important at this stage of development, are freely given.  This loving atmosphere instills 
in each child a feeling of autonomy and a positive self-concept.

Our youngest children are cared for by a large staff in 
one classroom that is divided into small areas.  

 

 

The activities emphasize process, not product: working on motor skills, language skills, and sensory training through play. 



Because frequent interaction with adults is very important for infants and toddlers, we keep as large a staff as we can in this room.  The children play together at some times of the day and are separated for some age-appropriate activities.

To offer the children healthy stimulation, their environment is changed often during the day; that is, they are moved to different activity areas, and they go out for walks or playground time daily, weather permitting.



The staff works to meet each child's physical needs thoroughly.  Strict sanitation procedures are carefully followed.  The infants and toddlers are encouraged to begin to develop self-help skills and respect for equipment and other people.

For the benefit of the child and the family, the staff communicates often 
and openly with parents in order to make day care and home care practices consistent.
